ARCOLOR has received the highest recognitian, Platinum, in its first participation in the renowned EcoVadis sustainability assessment. This places us among the top 1% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide – and among the top performers in our industry.
EcoVadis assesses companies based on rigorous criteria across four key areas:
- Environment
- Labour- & Human Rights
- Ethics
- Sustainable Procurement
For us, this recognition means far more than an award. It confirms the path we have consistently followed since ARCOLOR was founded 30 years ago: developing environmentally friendly products, conducting business sustainably and acting responsibly.
Sustainability as part of our DNA
We have deliberately taken a different approach from the very beginning when it comes to product development. We have always avoided solvent-based products and exclusively use water-based solutions without solvent additives. This approach presents significant technical challenges and requires a strong culture of innovation. At the same time, it has continually inspired us to develop new, high-performance and environmentally friendly products.
We have also been committed to reducing our carbon footprint for many years. Through targeted measures, we continuously work to reduce emissions and make our processes more sustainable. In addition, we support a reforestation project to help offset emissions arising, among other things, from production and business travel.
Energy from renewable sources
Today, 77% of our total energy consumption is electricity-based, and 100% of this electricity comes from renewable sources. We currently generate 25% of our electricity needs ourselves. The photovoltaic system on our roof has a capacity of 277 kW. In 2024, we more than doubled its size to 630 kW by leasing a section of our industrial neighbour’s roof. With this new model, we were a pioneer in our region. We cover our remaining electricity requirements with hydropower.
Keeping the Carbon Footprint of our products in focus
By analysing the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), we are establishing a solid foundation for the systematic assessment of our products’ carbon footprint, with a view to identifying further opportunities for optimisation. In doing so, we focus in particular on Scope 1 and 2 emissions, whilst also increasingly taking into account relevant emissions from upstream activities within Scope 3.
For us, the EcoVadis Platinum rating is therefore an important milestone – and, at the same time, a strong motivation to continue on our journey with passion and determination. Because sustainable business is not about resting on what we have achieved. It means continuously improving and moving forward.
For a shared future. For generations to come.
ARCOLOR – we only combine the best.
