ARCOLOR bring color into your life. We deliver all over the world, with 95 percent being exported. Our roots are in the picturesque Appenzell region of Switzerland. Nearly 80 employees in Waldstatt manufacture customized products for the most popular printing processes and digital printing. Our water-based printing inks set new standards. They meet the high quality and design demands that our customers make of us.
Our products are used in the production of decorative surfaces for floor laminates, furniture and kitchen fronts, and also coated panels. Our environmentally friendly printing inks are also being used in increasing numbers of applications for corrugated cardboard or for food packaging, labels, adhesive tapes and much more.
Extending our premises has been necessary so that we can continue along this road to success. Our company headquarters in Waldstatt were extended between 2018 and 2020. The modern extension provides more room for research and development, application technology, production, administration and storage. A total of 18 million Swiss francs have been invested in the new building.
ARCOLOR is a powerful partner
The demand for water-based decorative printing inks has increased tremendously. ARCOLOR is the worldwide leader in this area. Laboratories and production facilities with state-of-the-art equipment have been created in the new premises, where we are constantly working on specific innovations.
Digital printing with water-based inks has developed rapidly in industry. Accordingly, we have newly established a technical center for digital printing. Working in cooperation with our partners, we develop and test specific inkjet inks, primers and varnishes for tomorrow’s market needs on various digital printers.
The new building has allowed us to optimize production sequences and processes in a targeted manner. This has put us in a position to further reduce response and throughput times for customer orders. Many things have also become easier, such as the management of the warehouse, which is now accommodated in a single building. A spacious parking garage is now available for our employees.
ARCOLOR acts with great care
We don’t just talk about sustainability, we also act accordingly – and not just in connection with our products. Our production has been CO2 neutral since 2016. During the course of the expansion a solar panel system was installed, which extends over an area of 1300 square meters. It covers a proportion of our electricity requirements, and the remainder is obtained from hydroelectric power. We compensate for other CO2 emissions by supporting a project of the Swiss foundation “KMU Clima”. The aim of the project is to reforest fallow landscape in Uruguay.
Plenty of light, modern equipment, sensible room layout, architecture oriented to the existing building – the new extension meets all of our needs. It has been a part of our 25-year success story since the spring of 2020. We are extremely proud of it, and many things are in the pipeline. We are looking ahead. The extension is another foundation on which we are building.
